(Sorry about the random picture of the swan, I had a space to fill...)
Behold! My long awaited post on how to make gemstone necklaces! You will need...
Araldite, Chain of some kind (I got a 2m one off ebay for 99p), 8mm jump rings, Clasps and of course gemstones. Oh and some pliers and a pen lid but they're not in the picture.
1) Get a piece of card and put equal parts of each araldite solution, lay out two jump rings.
2) Mix the solution together with 'something', I find a pen lid works best and it's useful later on. It looks a bit like snot, but it sticks well and dries clear.
3) Apply a 'dollop' or araldite with the pen lid to the top of the gemstone you wish to use and leave to set for about half an hour to an hour until firm but sticky.
4) THIS BIT TAKES PERSEVERANCE AND PATIENCE. Place the TWO jump rings(yes, I know there is only one in the picture but I forgot to put the second on at first) on top of the stone on the semi-set glue with the side facing the way you want the stone to hang. This is not as easy as it sounds! You may need to keep propping it up/balancing it on things to make it stay etc...

5) Leave to dry for about 24 hours...
6) In the meanwhile you can make the necklace chain, so, measure out the length you want first and cut with pliers.
7) Open up a jump ring.
8) Attach to one of the ends of the chain and close back up.
9) Attach another jump ring to the other side but this time add on a clasp.
10) Open another jump ring and add on a clasp, but this time put the jump ring ON the chain so it can freely move up and down it, like a normal necklace charm.
11) Once your stone is dry you can attach it to the clasp by the attached jump ring. It may not seem very secure, but it is!
12) Make loads more and you can interchange the gemstones depending on what you want to wear etc...
Hope you liked my second little tutorial of the week and you like the look of the actual necklace and the concept of the interchanging (oo-er). Good idea? Or not so good...? Please do let me know how you get on if you try it. I'd LOVE to know. Thoughts please you beautiful people!
